pm Peace
& Justice Film Series: The
Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak
Oil
The film
explores the remarkable story of a small nation forced to
re-invent its entire agricultural economy when it suddenly
loses access to the petroleum needed to operate
machinery -- as well as the fertilizers and pesticides
needed to make modern farming work. The end of Soviet
Union subsidies forced Cuba to face the sustainable future --
and the details of that success can help light the way
for other nations and communities.

Sunday, January 14th 5:30
pm Peace
& Justice Film Series: "America:
From Freedom to Facism"
Neither left- nor right-wing, this
startling examination exposes the systematic erosion of civil
liberties in America. Through interviews with US
Congressman, a former IRS Commissioner, former IRS and FBI
agents, tax attorneys and authors, this film connects the
dots between money creation, federal income tax, voter
fraud, the national identity card (becoming law in May 2008)
and the implantation of radio frequency identification (RFID)
technology to track citizens. A striking case about the
evolving police state in America. 95
minutes.

Thanksgiving is traditionally the
time we choose to celebrate the bounty of our land and enjoy
the plentiful supply of food that is available to us. Over the
Thanksgiving period we are hosting 2 events which in their
different ways describe our ability to produce food and human
sustenance in less than encouraging circumstances.
Inspiration, imagination,
energy, dedication and creative commitment, finer attributes
of the human condition are needed to succeed. These attributes are
demonstrated in great abundance, close to home by
F.R.E.S.H. and
further afield by Heifer
International. |
